Mr. Calhoun has more than 40 years of experience with legal issues surrounding local government and all phases of land development and land use. His familiarity with local zoning and development codes and his professional relationships with local boards, commissions, councils and their staffs enable the firm to achieve positive results in zoning and land use matters. He is an AV Preeminent rated attorney with more than 40 reported appellate decisions, and in eminent domain cases he represents condemning authorities, landowners, lenders, lessors and lessees.

  • Dozens of condemnations for roads, sewers, airports, libraries and other public facilities.
  • Prosecution and defense of rezoning and related applications for owners, developers or local governments at administrative, trial, and appellate levels including: 130 acre mixed use development, 84 bed state of the art hospital, several comprehensive healthcare complexes, expansion of emergency room facilities for regional healthcare system, and  rezonings and variances for expansions by national convenience store chains.
  • Lender and owner representation in real estate title insurance litigation involving quiet title actions, equitable subrogation claims, improvement act claims, and declaratory judgment actions.
